Nasal Scope Procedure

This week’s segment features Clayton the 3 year old German Shepherd!! πŸ•β€πŸ¦ΊπŸ‘ƒ Clayton was referred to our clinic after experiencing prolonged nasal discharge coming from both nostrils for an extended period of time that wasn’t responding to medications. Here at Emerson Animal Hospital we have the ability to perform a scoping procedure of the nose and sinuses. This allows us to feed a very small flexible camera into the nose while under anesthesia to look for masses/tumors, inflammation, foreign material, etc. to determine the cause of the nasal discharge. After scoping Clayton we were able to determine he had no masses or foreign material stuck in his nose, however, he had a significant amount of inflammation in his sinuses. During the procedure we were also able to obtain a culture of the nasal drainage to determine what bacteria was present and causing the infection and what antibiotics will be effective in treating it. Thankfully after treatment with the targeted antibiotics based on his culture results we were able to resolve Clayton’s infection and his nasal discharge cleared up!! Give us a call today at (662)524-4155 if you are curious about our nasal scoping procedures!! πŸΎπŸ‘ƒπŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί
