This week’s segment features Onyx the 1-year-old German Shepherd and features our January 2026 special!! Onyx is owned by our kennel technician, Sarah, and recently underwent a spay and gastropexy procedure. Spaying and neutering cats and dogs is one of the most effective ways to promote their health and reduce pet overpopulation.
These simple, routine procedures help prevent unwanted litters, which too often end up in shelters or abandoned outdoors. Beyond population control, spaying and neutering offer major health and behavioral benefits — such as lowering the risk of certain cancers, infections, and roaming or aggressive behaviors.
By choosing to spay or neuter your pet, you’re not only giving them a longer, healthier life but also helping create a more compassionate community for all animals.
Additionally, the gastropexy procedure that Onyx had is performed to prevent life-threatening bloat. Gastropexy is a preventive surgical procedure that helps protect deep-chested dogs from gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), also known as bloat — a life-threatening condition where the stomach twists on itself. By permanently attaching the stomach to the body wall, gastropexy prevents this dangerous rotation. It’s often performed during spay or neuter surgery and can greatly reduce the risk of emergency situations later in life, giving large and giant breed dogs a safer, healthier future.
For the month of January, we are offering 15% off our cat and dog spay and neuter procedures! Give us a call at (662)524-4155 to set your pet up for their procedure as spots are filling fast!!
