This week’s segment features Weiser the 5 year old Husky Mix!! 🐶 Weiser came to us for having blood in her urine. Upon imaging her bladder, we found the Weiser had several large bladder stones!! Bladder stones are a common but often painful condition that can affect both dogs and cats. These mineral formations develop in the bladder and can range in size from tiny grains to large stones. Symptoms can include frequent urination, straining to urinate, blood in the urine, or even accidents in the house. In some cases, pets may show signs of discomfort or lethargy. If left untreated, bladder stones can lead to serious complications, including urinary blockages—which are life-threatening emergencies, especially in male cats. Weiser underwent a cystotomy which involves surgery to go into the bladder and remove the stones. We removed over 50 stones from her bladder both large and small!!! Bladder stones can originate from several different sources including diet, infection and even breed genetics. Thankfully after surgery and with medication, Weiser is back to her normal happy self!!! 🐶🐾
